WEEK IN REVIEW - FORT WAYNE



            Fort Wayne, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced the following activity in federal court:

 

            Adrian Juarez, 35, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, pled guilty before Magistrate Judge Roger Cosbey to count one of a superseding indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Indiana State Police, the Allen County Police Department, and the Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Geller.

 

            Rosie Z. Smith, 24, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to 14 months probation, 5 months community confinement, and 3 months of home detention after pleading guilty to counts one and two of an indictment charging her with making false statements in the purchase of a firearm. This case was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lesley Miller Lowery.

 

            The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
